# Mind the Gap — Editorial Breadcrumbs

## Supplement: V70 → Rev 2 v0.0

*29 May 2026 · Jose / Paul Roebuck*

*A supplement to the master Breadcrumbs Log. The master held in the project mount is stale (AS-AT-V36); this supplement records the editorial decisions and their reasoning across V70–V77 and the Rev 2 promotion, to be merged into the master when the current version is to hand.*

### V70 — ISBN and citation verification

- **Decision:** Swap the real Nielsen ISBN-13 (978-1-0369-9170-8) into the copyright page in place of the mock.
- **Decision:** Verify the Ch 8 hallucination citations against external record. Kohls v. Ellison, Mata v. Avianca, Moffatt v. Air Canada confirmed; wording corrected where it had drifted. *Reasoning: a chapter about AI fabricating citations cannot itself carry an unverified one.*

### V71–V72 — navigation and the Bowlby placement

- **Decision:** Hyperlinked Contents (ch_1–ch_15) and a 'Back to Contents' footer on every page. *Reasoning: a long non-fiction book read partly on screen needs working navigation.*
- **Decision:** Bowlby quote moved off the title page to its own page 2. *Reasoning: the epigraph earns isolation; the title page was crowding.*

### V73 — the Two Dads rebuild (the substantive editorial move of the cycle)

- **Decision:** Replace the vague bridge paragraph in Ch 14 with the **Bill Ollis lived scene** — first counselling session (August 2006), Bill working Paul backwards to single-digit years, *"we don't talk about that"* surfacing before consciousness, and the piece of paper with three words at the close (origin of the NGE framework).
- **Decision:** Correct "loss of my father at three" → "at five" (Ch 3). *Reasoning: factual; James Wakefield died when Paul was five.*
- **Decision:** Trim the later Ch 14 line that now duplicated the lived scene.
- **Reasoning across the move:** the reframe needed to be *shown* (a scene, sister verification, the contradiction carried for decades) rather than summarised. Locks CL-35, CL-36, CL-37. CL-36 stands as lived, empirical evidence of CL-29 (taught/learned).

### V74 — documentary anchor

- **Decision:** Add one line anchoring the recalled scene to the record — the 2014 FETC diploma notes, *"Noticing I have 2 Dads."* *Reasoning: the scene is memory; the diploma paper is contemporaneous documentation. The anchor earns the recall.* The paper itself (*The Whole Self*, June 2014) is held for the HTML artefact, not the printed book.

### V75 — register and date precision

- **Decision:** "my own father" → "my Dad" (Ch 5). *Reasoning: aligns with the Two Dads framing; "my Dad" is Ian Roebuck.*
- **Decision:** ChatGPT join made precise — "eleven days after it launched, on Sunday 11 December 2022" (Ch 9). *Reasoning: removes conflict with Ch 10's precise date.*
- **Dropped (Jose's advice):** two further date corrections (2015→2016 room opening; thirty-seven→thirty years) — both would have created internal contradictions with surrounding text. Approximation accepted.

### V76 — title-page rebuild

- **Decision:** Credentials line, three-line AI attribution, gold separator, and a review-only 'Who is this book for?' block. *Reasoning: a review copy should orient the reviewer; attribution should be plain and honest where AI involvement is material.* Block marked **review-only — out before KDP.**

### V77 — three finishing edits

- **Ch 4 date:** November → December 2022. *Reasoning: a book whose argument turns on precision cannot contradict itself on its own founding date across three chapters.*
- **Ch 10 heading:** the duplicated body heading → **"The Four Postures."** *Reasoning: the chapter's thesis is postures-not-ranks; spending the most salient heading slot reinforcing the ladder-reading the chapter exists to dismantle was the wrong call. "The Four Postures" carries the thesis; the chapter title stays "The Maturity Spectrum."*
- **Front-page block:** rewritten — dropped "serious," folded the boundary into a positive frame, three reader-sections, left-aligned. *Reasoning: positive framing suits a review-orientation block; the old hard "not for" line read defensive and was redundant with the close.*

### Rev 2 v0.0 — promotion

- **Decision (Paul):** Promote to an external-facing milestone. Rev scheme adopted; Vnn counter retired at V77.
- **Paul's hand-back amendments:** block re-split to one audience per line, wording tuned (*bankers* added; *leaders*; *must bear*), close extended to *"…or how to use AI."*; removed *"Mr [name held]'s fingers"* from Ch 14's list.
- **Editor's note (Jose):** the cut of "Mr [name held]'s fingers" leaves no orphan — [name held] remains acknowledged in the front matter, which stands alone. The book is editorially complete.
